Gas safety in Hackney: the local picture
A gas safety visit to a Clapton terrace needs a clear appliance list, while a converted Dalston house may have separate boilers behind several tenancy doors. Peachtree Maintenance arranges checks by Gas Safe registered engineers and supplies digital records for the inspected installation. Tell us about concealed meters, shared access and any tenant reports of unreliable heating before booking. In Hackney Wick apartments, establish whether the flat has its own gas appliance or receives communal heat rather than assuming every home needs the same visit.
What the rules say
Where a rented home has gas appliances, flues or pipework provided by the landlord, the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 require a safety check by a Gas Safe registered engineer every 12 months. The engineer records the result on a landlord gas safety record.
Existing tenants should receive a copy within 28 days of the check and new tenants before they move in. Records are kept for at least two years. A check carried out up to two months before the due date can keep the original renewal date.
